Overview
‘Ibadan 2003’ is the 3rd edition of Annual All Nigeria NGO Summit & Exposition. It is the nation’s leading voluntary meeting for representatives/members of NGOs, government, donors and support agencies in Nigeria. It addresses issues of fundamental import crucial to the growth and development of the humanitarian sector in Nigeria and sub-Saharan Africa.

 The annual summit is the rallying point for NGO activities, sustainable development programme as well as recognition award. Participants are provided a unique opportunity to acquire the mechanism and support needed to network, brainstorm, share and multiply their inputs towards solving humanity basic problems.    

 Objectives
To create a unique meeting point for participants to dialogue and share innovative ideas and practices as well as build strategic partnership that can help NGOs better fulfill their missions.   

To recognize the spirit of volunteerism among NGOs, individuals and other stakeholders and acknowledge their role and effectiveness.   

 To provide opportunities for NGO, Donor and government representatives to introduce their organization or discuss their activities, concern or problems where experts provide guidance on practical topics of importance to them.

 

Eligibility  

The annual summit is open to members of the NGO community, donors and inter-governmental agencies and other stakeholders in the third sector. 

 

Exhibition
Exposition programme through Exhibition are being organized for the summit. Interested organizations are expected to participate by showcasing their products, services and technologies. Exposition is however not a trade fair and materials for exhibition should be NGO-related concerns. The fee for a space (table) allocation is N2,000.00, payable as applicable in registration. Only 20 Spaces are available and exhibitors will be considered on 'First Come First Served' basis.

Call for Papers
While speakers for the main sessions are being selected by the National Planning Committee, NPC, opportunities are available for NGOs, donors or government representatives to introduce their organizations and its relevance to the summit or present particular projects or issues of interest to them and the NGO community. Speakers for this plenary session are limited to ten (10) minutes presentation. 

Prospective presenters should submit a brief abstract (1 page maximum) of their planned presentation. Submission must be received latest by January 31, 2003. NPC members will select  paper presenters and qualified applicants will be notified through email in February 2003. Please submit proposal via surface mail to the National Secretariat.

Call for 2003 Reward, Recognition and Award Scheme
Nomination for the 2nd edition of Reward, Recognition and Award Scheme, RRAS is open for ‘Ibadan 2003’ NGO summit. The RRAS is a programme designed to honour NGOs, Donors, companies/corporate organizations, individuals and funding agencies that have demonstrated extraordinary efforts, self-sacrifice, innovation and excellence in providing support towards humanitarian services in Nigeria. The categories are:

  1. NGO                                                      -             Service Award

  2. Corporate Organizations                       -              Recognition Award

  3. Individual                                               -              Reward for Excellence

  4. Donor/Support                                       -              Donor/Support Award

An Award Selection Committee, ASC comprising members of the 2003 NPC is responsible for the selection of winners from among nominations received. To recommend for an award, please send name, qualifications and achievements of the prospective awardees with a covering note to the National Secretariat. 

Registration
The fee for the summit per delegate is N5,000.00 (for residents in Nigeria) and $100 for non-residents. It covers full participation in the conference, materials, tea break and lunch. Fees are payable by bank cheque and made in favour of NGO GUIDE 2000 at any of Guaranty Trust Bank branches nationwide in account No 1917558110 and should be received latest by Wednesday January 22, 2003. Payment received later than this date and/or cash payment at the venue of the summit will attract extra cost of N2,000.00 per participants.  Non-resident delegates are allowed to register on arrival at the venue. However, an intent to participate should be communicated in advance. 

Cancellation
In the event of not being able to attend, a suitable delegate is welcome. Such proxy or substitute should be communicated to the secretariat not later than Friday 24 January, 2003.

Hotel Accommodation
Discounted room rates are available for delegates at University of Ibadan Hotel, IITA Guest House, Pastoral Institute Guest House and some other hotels within Ibadan Metropolis. Delegates wishing for further information will receive details on arrival at the desk or contact the National Secretariat of the Summit.
